35 PLATTSBURGH KIDS PICKED TO SING WITH WORLD FAMOUS VIOLINIST
Students Chosen to Sing With André Rieu at his Montreal Concert
MONTREAL, QC – JUNE 30, 2010 – During Andre Rieu’s current North American tour, he’s asking local singers to participate in the concert by performing back up vocals during “Earth Song,” a tribute to the late Michael Jackson.
When Rieu turned to Mountain Lake PBS for assistance in finding his community singers for his Montreal concert, the station turned to the Plattsburgh City School District choral directors.
“I was thrilled to bring this amazing opportunity to our local school district on behalf of the station. It was amazing to see our community showcased on an international stage,” said Sophie Mitsoglou, Director of Fundraising and Business Development. “They did a phenomenal job. They received one, out of only two, standing ovations.”
After the performance, the students were invited by André to join him for his Toronto performance the following day as well, but were unable to accept the invitation due to logistics.
Tune into Mountain Lake Journal EXTRA Thursday at 8:30 pm for the feature showcasing the Plattsburgh student's performance.
