Night of Nations
Plattsburgh, NY – Put your luggage in the overhead compartment, listen to the flight attendants and fasten your seatbelts, you are in for a flight around the world on the Night of Nations International Airlines. On November 17, the International community at SUNY Plattsburgh, will be holding its annual Night of Nations Cultural Showcase. The event begins at 5:30 pm with a pre-boarding open house. The main showcase begins at 7:00 pm in Hawkins Hall on the SUNY Plattsburgh Campus. It is open to the community and is free of charge.
At the pre-boarding open house, community members will be able to interact with the student performers. They will be able to create carnival masks, learn to dance salsa, sing a song in Portuguese, create mock sumo wrestlers and more. During the main showcase, audience members will learn about different cultures and watch dance performances from around the world.
The international community, along with various student volunteers, created this event for everyone on the campus to share their culture. This event has since grown and now includes both the SUNY Plattsburgh community and the local community.-Press Release Written By Sharisse DaSilva
Night of Nations is a wonderful way for people around the community to celebrate the different cultures at SUNY Plattsburgh. I have had the opportunity to work on this event during the current semester as the Study Abroad intern and as the stage manager, which I am very grateful for.
