NCCCA Arts Center Announces March Workshop Mania
Workshops Include Offerings in Performance and Visual Arts
The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the schedule for its March workshops in theater, dance, printmaking, sewing, typography, photography, and painting.
“March is a wonderful time to explore what is happening at the Arts Center,” says NCCCA Executive Director, Janine Scherline. “We take a break from our typical class structure and offer juicy arts tidbits to energize and invigorate people of all ages.”
“We are lucky to have a wide variety for this March Workshop Mania,” says NCCCA Education Coordinator, Emily Owens. “Local artists are bringing their talents for one-day-only programs. From improv and dance to typography and sewing, we have something for everyone.”
Eco-friendly art will be made in workshops directed by local artists. In Creative Upcycling, Stephanie DeJoseph, of La Mia Designs, will teach how a piece of clothing or jewelry can be transformed into something new. A one-day-only Hand-printing Workshop, run by Nadia Korths, will show how unique prints suitable for cards or framing can be made from recycled objects.
For those interested in graphic design, new workshops in DSLR photography, calligraphy, and typography will be available. “Try It” workshops, in both hand-building and wheel throwing, will be available for youths and adults in the clay studio.
An Experimental Painting workshop will be led by Jeff Woodard for youth. Members of the North Country Ballet Ensemble will lead a Tutus and Tiaras workshop for dancers age four to seven. An improvisation workshop for youth performers will also be available by Scott Gibbs.
The NCCCA is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 5pm and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm. For a full listing of all workshops, visit the NCCCA’s website at: www.plattsburgharts.org
