Rimple Bal of Plattsburgh, NY, has been named the 2012 Just Move It Ambassador to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. Along with her family and friends, Rimple will lead the run/walk/bike/skip on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center in Burlington, Vermont.
“I'm really excited about this event,” said Rimple. “I think it will be a lot of fun but will also help people understand that people of all ages can suffer from arthritis, including 18 year-olds like me.”
Rimple Bal was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis at age four while living in India with her family. Some doctors said she had Polio, some said she simply fell on her knee while playing and the inflammation would subside, while others performed painful and expensive tests. Finally, the family moved back to New York, where Rimple was diagnosed immediately with JA. She has undergone a number of treatments in her eighteen years, but remains exceptionally motivated and positive as she battles her debilitating disease. Today, Rimple is a freshman at SUNY, Plattsburgh where she is studying biochemistry so she one day can become a Pediatric Rheumatologist and help children overcome this painful disease.
Just Move It is an event that encourages any type of movement which is beneficial in helping alleviate arthritis symptoms as well as promoting overall good health.
