The Will Rogers Senior Outing Club's June program will feature fishing with an Adirondack Guide, nature walks and relaxing along a shore of Upper Saranac Lake. This event will take place on Tuesday, June 25th, and will depart from Will Rogers at 10:00 a.m. Easy strolls will be available on the grounds of a private camp that is over 100 years old. Fishing poles and other equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring along personal equipment if you have it. Binoculars would be useful for the nature walk, and bug spray, hats and sunscreen are also suggested.
For those who want to fish, a New York State Fishing license must be pre-purchased from the DEC, Blue Line Sports, or other issuing agency. There is a one-day license available for $5 for New York State residents (or $15 for non-residents). New York State seniors over the age of 70 may purchase a fishing license for the entire season for $5.
The Saranac Village at Will Rogers Senior Outing Club is open to all seniors (55+) interested in venturing out for moderate activity at various locations around the area. Activities are held on the last Tuesday of the month. The club's mission is to "offer seniors the chance to enjoy outdoor adventures with companionship, safety and fun."
Please wear outdoor appropriate gear, including sturdy walking shoes and rain gear in case of inclement weather. Bag lunches can be brought, or a picnic lunch will be available for a cost of $7. There is a limit to the number of participants. Please call Debbie Kanze at 891-7117 to make a reservation.
