This is a VERY important meeting to attend if you or someone you love needs and cannot get transportation to necessary services and appointments. The meeting will be attended and is presented by Members of the Clinton County Coordinated Transit Committee, The New York State Dept. of Transportation and the New York Dept. of Health. Persons with disabilities, Veterans, low income individuals, the elderly and students are in the populations in our County that are the most under served. Transit operators who currently DO NOT provide equal access to their services (no lifts or ramp equipped vehicles for persons with mobility impairments) are: the Clinton County Dept. of Social Services (no wheelchair accessible transportation provided to Medicaid eligible clients who need to travel outside of Clinton County for Medical Care), Joint Council on Economic Opportunity (JCEO) (no wheelchair accessible transportation provided to Social Services Clients and Office for the Aging Clients), Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN) (they provide a shuttle service that is not wheelchair accessible), SUNY Plattsburgh (students shuttles are not wheelchair accessible), the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs (their vans used to transport veterans to the Albany VA clinic are not wheelchair accessible) and others, PLEASE COME to this meeting if you care about people having equal access to all that life has to offer, but, most critically, to medical care. Please check back for a call in number to be listed for people who cannot attend in person, but would like to call in on that day to express their support, ask questions or voice their opinion. Please come and support equality for all people who live in Clinton County. Thank you!
