Join us at the 21st Annual Conference on the Adirondacks for the world premiere of The Resilient Ones: A Generation Takes on Climate Change. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with the film makers, students, and experts from the film.
In August of 2011 Tropical Storm Irene ripped through the Adirondack Mountains of Northern New York, destroying lives and infrastructure and upsetting the ecological systems in this pristine wilderness. Irene exposed that even mountainous inland areas are vulnerable to extreme weather events. In the aftermath of that storm, high school students take us on a journey to meet innovative leaders and experts as they search for both short-term adaptive strategies to extreme weather and long-term solutions to reducing carbon emissions.
The film demonstrates how this region serves as a bellwether for climate change in the rest of the country and sounds a clarion call for awareness, and individual and collective response.
