Sembrich presents 'On Becoming' one-person show
An Autobiography in Song with Actress Catherine Wolf
The Sembrich, located at 4800 Lakeshore Drive in Bolton Landing, presents “On Becoming,” a one-woman show featuring actress Catherine Wolf, on Saturday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $25.
“I recall through songs and stories my emergence as an actress while growing up surrounded by the famous and talented personalities in the family and beyond,” says Ms. Wolf. These celebrities include her Grandmother Luboshutz, a larger-than-life violinist who had concertized for the Court of the Romanoff's; her Great Uncle Pierre Luboshutz and Great Aunt Genia Nemenoff, world famous duo-pianists; and her illustrious Uncle Boris Goldovsky, who for thirty years was heard on the radio every Saturday discussing the operas during the intermissions of the Metropolitan Opera Broadcast (and who visited the Sembrich studio on several occasions).
“On Becoming” is highlighted by classic Broadway songs of Jerry Herman, Victor Herbert and Stephen Sondheim, sung by Ms. Wolf with accompaniment by pianist/arranger Steven Silverstein.
“A perfect gem of a show... an autobiography in song that is honest, funny and poignant,” writes Joel Benjamin of “On Becoming” on TheaterScene.net.
