The group is comprised of two couples: Nikoley Kolev and Donka Koleva, and Belle Birchfield and Michael Ginsberg. The group has toured worldwide and each couple has been recognized as world class masters of their art. Authentic instruments used in this performance include the tambura (long-necked lute), tarambuka (hand drum with a goblet shape) and gadulka (bowed string instrument).
About The Sembrich
The Marcella Sembrich Memorial Association, Inc. (MSMA), founded in 1940, honors international opera singer Marcella Sembrich at her former teaching studio and woodland retreat on Lake George, by continuing the tradition of musical performances. Each summer, renowned international musicians perform in The Sembrich Studio reminiscent of the chambers and salons in which chamber music was first played.
