Science@30City continues on October 17th at 5:30 pm when Dr. Kathy Lavoie, Professor of Biology at SUNY Plattsburgh, presents “Bat Conservation.”
What do you really know about bats? They are a little known and misunderstood group of mammals yet bat conservation is important worldwide. Many species are threatened or endangered; why should you care? We’ll discuss the latest on White Nose Syndrome (WNS), a lethal and invasive species of fungus which started its North American spread in New York.
A free lecture series open to the public, Science@30City covers a broad range of contemporary science and technology topics that impact our community and everyday lives. Future presentations will include Dr. Ken Polodak “Magnets of the Future” on Monday, November 7th at 5:30 pm and Dr. Curt Gervich with Essex Farm Institute members Kristen Kimball and Racey Billingham “Exploring the Food-Water-Energy Relationship in ADK Farming Communities” on Monday November 21st at 5:30 pm.
