An important and often overlooked component of the North Country Lumber Jills is community service. Each bout throughout the season is dedicated to a local non-profit organization as part of our efforts to give back to the community. For our Back to School Bout, the Lumber Jills are proud to help Bailey Avenue School! The president of Plattsburgh Roller Derby, Erin McGill also known as Teachy McKill, is a teacher at the school and it is a cause close to her heart. At the bout, there is an opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle where all the proceeds will go to Bailey Avenue School in Plattsburgh.
The North Country Lumber Jills will be providing food featuring pizza and other snacks and beverages, while Olive Ridley’s will be in charge of the beer garden as well as hosting the after party. All major credit cards are also accepted at our merch table!
North Country Lumber Jills is the team for Plattsburgh Roller Derby (PRD), a skater-owned and operated roller derby league that formed in the spring of 2010. PRD prides itself in supporting the local community and dedicates its time to furthering the understanding of roller derby and female athleticism. Each home bout is dedicated to a local non-profit organization where all proceeds from the 50/50 raffle are donated to the designated organization. This year the Lumber Jills have partnered with Kent-Delord House Museum, ROTA Gallery, Reality Check, Imaginarium Children’s Museum, and the Autism Alliance of the Northeastern New York.
