On May 3, 1863 in Virginia, was the Battle of Salem Heights during the American Civil War. To celebrate this event and to start our season off right, we are hosting an open house at the Kent-Delord House Museum on Saturday May 4th from 11AM-2PM.
Our very own Rev. Frank Hall served as a Chaplain for the 16th New York Volunteer Regiment for the Union during the Civil War. During the Battle of Salem Heights, Rev. Hall rode his horse named Zollicoffer onto the battlefield to bring wounded soldiers to safety. For this act of bravery, and for acting outside of his duties as a Chaplain, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor 35 years later.
Celebrate Frank Hall's achievements with us! We are offering free admission on this day, along with refreshments including some of Betsey's old recipes. You do not want to miss out! Kids activities will be offered in the barn.
