During the month of April, NorthWind Fine Arts will host Montreal-based artist, France Jauron, with her show entitled “Roots”. France has spent nearly twenty years hiking in the Adirondacks, where she gains inspiration for her pieces. A former oil painter, she recently discovered the flexibility of new acrylic mediums, and has become “less painter and more sculptor”.
France’s beautiful and intriguing work features organic creations that mimic nature. “The concept, “Roots”, refers to our origin--our basic core. They are as essential to us as they are to the plant or the tree. When they run on the ground, their forms are often fascinating, and they have found their place in my work. Each of my pieces is built on an assembly of textures and colors; the organic forms are raised up from the background, creating imaginary worlds and figures. Worlds to discover, to explore, to connect with. Like our roots.”
NorthWind Fine Arts will host an opening reception from 5-7 pm on Friday, April 1. The show will be on display through the month of April. The gallery is located at 11 Woodruff Street in Saranac Lake. Gallery hours: Thursday-Sunday, 11 am-5 pm. www.northwindfineartsgallery.com
