NCCCA Arts Center Introduces New Class Offering: Music for Small Hands
Music Class is Designed for Children 6 Months through 3 Years
The NCCCA Arts Center is excited to announce a new music offering called, “Music for Small Hands.” This weekly program is designed for children 6 months through 3 years and their parents. Each class combines music and movement for a creative and interactive session.
The class will be taught by Josh Meyer, an avid musician and local math and science teacher at Chazy Central School who grew up in Plattsburgh. Meyer plays upwards of 25 musical instruments and has worked with young musicians and their families for the past seven years. He has performed in several musical acts locally, regionally, and internationally that have performed at daycare centers, elementary schools, and play groups around New York State.
“We welcome the opportunity to work with local artists who have close ties to our community,” says Janine Scherline, NCCCA Executive Director, “and we hope that many families in the area will take advantage of working with Josh as well as taking a class with their infant or toddler.”
“We have received many requests for programs for infants and toddlers,” says NCCCA Education Coordinator, Emily Owens. “We are happy to include this new class that will allow parents to explore the joy of music with their young children.”
Music for Small Hands begins on Wednesday, January 9th and will continue through February 13th. The first session, for children ages 6 to 18 months, will run from 5:00-5:30pm. The second session, for 18 months to 3 years, will run from 5:35-6:05pm. The cost for the 6-week course is $60 or $55 for members of the Arts Center. A parent must attend with the child.
The Arts Center is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 5pm and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm. For a complete listing of all classes and workshops, please visit the NCCCA Arts Center’s website at: www.plattsburgharts.org
