NCCCA Arts Center Announces Series of Try It! Clay Workshops
Featured workshops in March Workshop Mania month at NCCCA
NCCCA Arts Center is pleased to host a series of three (3) clay workshops to give participants an opportunity to try working in the medium of clay. Entitled, “Try It!,” this series includes workshops for students ages 5 through adult with offerings in both hand building and wheel throwing.
All three workshops will be led by Kim Mazur, a NCCCA Artist Teacher and highly regarded local ceramic artist. “Kim is both a wonderful artist and an informative instructor,” says NCCCA Education Coordinator, Emily Owens. “In these workshops, students will get an introduction to ceramic arts and can decide if they would like to take more in-depth programs.”
Hand building involves making ceramic pieces using one’s hands and hand tools. This includes sculptures, tiles, and small bowls. For wheel throwing, participants work on a rotating potters’ wheel to create pots, bowls and cups out of clay.
The first program, “Try It! Hand Building for Ages 5 through 9” will meet on Saturday, March 9th from 9:30 to 11am. The cost for this program is $15 and there is $5 materials fee.
The second program “Try It! Wheel Throwing for Ages 10 through 14” is also on Saturday, March 9th. It will run from 11:30am-1:30pm and the cost is $20 with a $5 materials fee.
The third program is “Try It! Wheel Throwing for Teens and Adults.” It will meet on Saturday, March 16th from 9:30-11:30am. The workshop costs $20 and $10 for materials.
The NCCCA Arts Center is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 5pm and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm. For more information about upcoming classes, please visit the NCCCA Arts Center’s website at: www.plattsburgharts.org
