NCCCA Announces Workshop to Create Favorite Animal Ceramic Plate
Children Design a Functional and Unique Ceramic Piece of their Own
The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA Arts Center) is excited to announce the Favorite Animal Ceramic Plate Workshop. Children, ages 5-9, will use clay and glazes to create a functional plate designed around any animal they wish with the assistance of instructor, Rebecca Conklin.
“Through this workshop, children will be introduced to several basic elements of clay design and also be able to exercise their creativity,” says NCCCA Education Coordinator Emily Owens.
“We are very lucky to work with Rebecca,” says NCCCA Executive Director Janine Scherline. “She is a certified arts educator in the region and has a great deal of experience helping people of all ages express themselves through art. In her spare time, she works here at the Arts Center instructing classes including Kids’ Art Quest and Mud & Merlot for adults.
Scherline adds, “This workshop is a wonderful addition to our Spring course schedule and one not to be missed for kids!”
During the class children will learn techniques to add texture and shape in order create an image of an animal and glaze their creation however they choose. The animal plates will be ready to be picked up two weeks after the workshop.
The Favorite Animal Ceramic Plate Workshop costs $25 ($20 for Arts Center members) plus a $5 materials fee and will take place from 3-5 pm on Saturday, May 11th.
The NCCCA is open to visitors Tuesday through Friday, 10am - 5pm and Saturdays, 10am - 4pm. For a full listing of classes, please visit the NCCCA’s website at: www.plattsburgharts.org
