Fort Ticonderoga – America’s Fort and Amtrak
Guests arriving to Ticonderoga, by train aboard Amtrak - America’s National Railroad Passenger Corporation’s, Adirondack Train will be greeted by a Fort Ticonderoga staff person welcoming them to Ticonderoga. Those arriving can hop on Fort Ticonderoga’s new shuttle service in part supported through Amtrak and the New York State Department of Transportation. Starting Friday - May 22, 2015, the shuttle service will meet and greet guests arriving to Ticonderoga from both north and southbound Amtrak trains and provide transportation to Ticonderoga’s Best Western Plus Inn and Suites, and the Fort Ticonderoga museum campus. The Rails to Wheels Welcome Shuttle Service is FREE of charge for Amtrak travelers and will run through September 7, 2015.

First Train to arrive 1:22PM – Brief remarks after arrival of first train arriving from the south The Fort Ticonderoga and Amtrak partnership - Rails to Wheels – Welcome and Shuttle Service program, a first of its kind, provides much needed transportation for guests arriving at the Ticonderoga train station during the 2015 tourism season. This community program helps guests visiting Ticonderoga and the surrounding area, helps the economy and promotes tourism. Through this program and partnership, Fort Ticonderoga and Amtrak have taken a leadership role welcoming guests to the Town of Ticonderoga, the Adirondack North Country and orienting them with information about the many diverse experiences offered throughout the region.
For the fourth year Amtrak will offer one free companion rail fare with the purchase of one regular adult rail fare, on the state supported Adirondack line to and from Ticonderoga, New York, now through October 31, 2015. Participating travelers will also receive a buy one/get one free discount on daily admission to Fort Ticonderoga.
