BURLINGTON, Vt. — ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center’s After Dark adult program for October invites guests 21 years and older to enjoy fine wine and chocolate and discover the delicate flavor balance that is informed by the characteristics of the soil the grapes and the cocoa are grown in. This special evening takes place on Thursday, October 11, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Guests will enjoy the option of tasting 11 different European wines (five included with admission) paired with Lake Champlain Chocolate’s new Blue Bandana line of Chocolates. They will learn about the importance of terroir (from terre, "land"), the special characteristics that geography, geology and climate of a certain place bestow upon particular produce such as wine or chocolate.
“ECHO’s After Dark audience responds extremely well to programming that mixes science with items that we enjoy every day, in this case, chocolate and wine”, said Linda Bowden, ECHO’s Lifelong Learning Educator and Coordinator.
Presenters include: Jason Zuliana from Dedalus Wine and Roger Myers from Lake Champlain Chocolates as well as four wine makers (and their translators) from Italy and France.

ECHO After Dark is a program series for the 21+ crowd. These take place the second Thursday of every month at ECHO and encompass special focus events such as this Wine & Chocolate tasting and the Café Sci speaker series.
