NorthWind Fine Arts is very pleased to host member Anne Hughes’ exhibit, "Birds of a Feather" which showcases her exquisite and unique pieces of art. Her opening is Friday, August 5 from 5-7 pm, 11 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, NY.
A world traveler, Anne has lived in many places in the United States, and has finally “come home” to the Adirondacks, where she’s spent each summer of her life, surrounded by extended family. While she was “away” she earned a BA in Art History, taught children’s art classes, renovated homes and catered events.
Anne finds her inspiration in nature, and in the simplicity of American Indian art. Her work features compositional treasures made of things that others often overlook—the “wrong” side of birch bark, the different stages of roadside grasses, the incredible beauty and diversity of bird feathers. She combines these elements in a rhythmic dance of natural beauty, sometimes with ironic or startling elements finding their way into her art, like the bird, shot for the dinner table, reimagined and recreated by Anne’s deft hands and unerring eye.
Anne’s work will be on display and available for sale through the month of August. NorthWind Fine Arts is a cooperative gallery in the heart of the Adirondacks. 11 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, NY Summer hours: Open Daily, 11-6, Sunday 11-4, Closed Tuesday. 518-354-1875 northwindfineartsgallery.com
