On Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 3 pm the Cultural Affairs Committee and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society of Clinton Community College are co-sponsoring a benefit concert for the community of Lac-Mégantic, Québec. As you may have heard, this community was severely damaged by a rail car explosion on July 6, 2013. (Article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lac-M%C3%A9gantic_derailment, photos attached).
Our entertainment for this bilingual concert features two Francophone performers, Josée Allard and Josée Vachon. Josée Allard (https://myspace.com/joseeallard), who lives in Lyon Mountain, crosses the border regularly performing both in Québec and the US. Josée Vachon (http://www.joseevachon.com), whose parents live in Lac-Mègantic, tours throughout the northeast. Josée last appeared in the area in 2009 during the Champlain Quadricentennial.
Our two local Anglophone artists are Gary Henry (http://www.denpubs.com/news/2010/nov/24/musician-gary-henry-just-enjoying-what-he-loves/, who often performs at local venues when not teaching at Clinton Community College and Rich Sutphen (http://www.richheritagemusic.com), who has a significant local following, both as a solo act and as a member of the group Towne Meeting.
