Alternative to Nursing Home Care Presentation
Jocelyn Blanchard, Outreach Coordinator for the Southern Adirondack Independent Living Center will present a seminar on a program that offers an alternate to nursing home care. The New York State Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Medicaid Waiver program offers many services that allow people to receive the care they need outside of a nursing home. This seminar will take place at Saranac Village at Will Rogers, on Wednesday, March 6, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., as part of the Saranac Village at Will Rogers Road to Retirement Series. The Road to Retirement Series features programs related to the challenges and opportunities of retiring focusing on services and resources that can help people retire successfully and happily.
Jamie Whidden, Saranac Village at Will Rogers Executive Director, says, “We look forward to connecting residents and guests with more information about this valuable program that can help people meet their needs in the residential setting of their choice. As the total number of nursing home beds in our area decreases, this program will play an increasing role in allowing people who need some services that have been traditionally provided in a nursing home to receive assistance in a setting such as Saranac Village at Will Rogers.”
This program is free and open to the public and a special discount will be offered to new residents who attend the program. Refreshments will be served. For information, please contact Debbie Kanze at (518) 891-7117.
