Retreat for Professionals in the Helping Occupations
The last weekend in March Creative Healing Connections will launch a weekend of back-to-back retreats at beautiful Valcour Conference Center in Peru, NY. On Saturday, March 29th we’ll offer arts and stress reduction experiences to voluntary caregivers. If you are a family member or friend helping an elder or a loved one with physical or mental illness please join us for a day of fun and ease. On Sunday, March 30th we’ll welcome those of you who are professional caregivers to take time to luxuriate and enjoy yourself. If you are someone in the helping professions please come and allow yourself the pleasure of participating in programs designed for you to balance all of the giving you do for others.
Research studies suggest that when we revitalize ourselves, we benefit those in our care, as well. Take time away from your tasks, roles and duties, invite guilt to step aside, and join us for a unique experience for caregivers.
Each participant will be able to attend two of four different workshops: Collage, Creative Writing, Yoga for Every Body, and Counterbalancing Stress. No experience or creative ability is required. Participants will have time to gather as a group, work in pairs and enjoy breaks to chat or gaze at the lake. The hot buffet lunch includes options for a variety of diets with meat vegan and gluten-free entrees.
The objectives of the Alfred Z. Solomon Caregivers’ Retreats are to provide:
- A day all about YOU with time to focus on yourself to nourish and recharge so that you can most effectively care for others.
- Activities that teach healthy ways to de-stress and increase positive daily experiences.
- An opportunity to connect to others with similar challenges through creative and fun activities.
- A chance to express yourself.
- Evidence-informed ways to cope more effectively with life’s challenges that can take just a few seconds, a few minutes, or more time if you have it.
- Creative activities that you can enjoy at home after the retreat.
Cost: $75 includes over 5 hours of experiential programs, hot buffet lunch and program supplies. Scholarships are available.
