Join Jack Coleman on a snowshoe hike to Avalanche Lake. The trail through Avalanche Pass is one of the most spectacular in the Adirondacks, with sheer rock walls rising directly out of the water on both sides of the lake. Jack will discuss winter safety, decision making, preparedness, and more. Total round trip distance is 8.8 miles, with 600 feet of elevation gain. Winter weather can be unpredictable, and participants should be prepared for wind, cold temperatures, snow, and ice. This trip is for registrants who have some experience hiking in the winter on snowshoes. Jack is an experienced winter 46er. Pre-registration is required. Call 518-523-3441 to register.
