Moving Mountains is presented as part of the Andrew Touchstone Artist in Residence Series featuring Navah Perlman. Ms. Perlman will be the featured soloist in Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3". Other works on the program include "Port Essignton" by Australian composer Peter Essington and Mozart's "Prague" Symphony, No.38. Music Director Ron Spigelman describes this concert as "being about compositions written for former countries!" As borders shift for war and peace, and new countries are born, music remains transcendent to the shifting political sands. These three works, all written for places that were once known by another name, travel from the humid rainforests of what is now Australia, to Western Europe. Although written in a similar time period, they are musically worlds apart. We welcome back Navah Perlamn who will perform the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in which the great composer tips his musical hat to Mozart, as he was famous for doing, before finding new compositional territory.
