2015 has certainly been an interesting and exciting year for me, and for Mountain Lake PBS. In my first year here I’ve been very lucky to explore the region with my family. We’ve done a dozen hikes, a lot of skiing (even if it was all last winter), and have been to Montreal more times that I can count. We are blessed to live in such an incredible, diverse and welcoming part of the world!
It was a busy year at Mountain Lake PBS -- we updated our mission, vision and values, and created a new strategic plan. But, the thing I found most interesting and valuable was the series of listening sessions we conducted in Montreal, Saranac Lake and in Plattsburgh. I gained a lot of insight through some very thought-provoking conversations with community members. While I found real differences between each region, I found more similarities. I’m excited to take all we learned from those conversations and put it to use in 2016, strengthening our station and the communities we serve by doing the work that advances our mission to inspire, enrich and engage.
I’d like to recognize our outgoing board chair, Jaci Kelleher, of the law firm Stafford, Owens, Piller, Murnane, Kelleher, and Trombley. Over the last two years, she has dedicated hundreds of hours to the station and I am so grateful for her efforts. In 2016, James Liszka, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Plattsburgh will take over as chair, and I’m looking forward to the work that we’ll do together with our terrific board of trustees!
This station is an expression of the vital and supportive communities that we all enjoy. Our work would not be possible without the dozens of businesses and thousands of individuals that come together every year to make Mountain Lake PBS all that it is. Your support makes such a difference, and I thank you for it!
On behalf of all of us at Mountain Lake PBS, I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year!
President, Mountain Lake PBS
