Michael Bacon, feeling at home in the Adirondacks
Michael Bacon of the Bacon Brothers says he's spent his summer vacations in the Adirondacks all his life. The composer was raised with five siblings in a home in Philadelphia. His family, including fellow Bacon Brother Kevin, would often vacation at the family camp on an Adirondack Lake. After Michael Bacon became a documentary music composer and song-writer living in Manhattan, he continued the tradition of spending weeks each summer at the camp, a place whose history with the Bacons goes back a century. Michael Bacon wrote "It's an Adirondack Thing" for a special concert at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. The song humorously recounts Bacon's experiences and frustrations with the camp he loves to visit with his wife. Bacon created this music video of the song with Mountain Lake PBS producer Paul Larson and cinematographer Daniel McCullum.
