Pete Seeger and Paul Larson
Folk legend Pete Seeger has passed away at the age of 94. Just six months ago, I had found him to be very knowledgeable, alert and spry during our interview for the documentary Songs to Keep: Treasures of an Adirondack Folk Collector. He really seemed to enjoy the subject of the interview, namely, Marjorie Lansing Porter, a folklorist with whom he'd collaborated on an album of traditional Adirondack folks tunes called "Champlain Valley Songs."
Pete Seeger inspired such musicians as Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. He wrote the memorable "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and helped popularize the activist anthem "We Shall Overcome."
I feel very honored and privileged to have met and worked with this man.
