ENJOY CLASSIC ART EXPRESS CLIPS BEFORE HEADING TO THE CINEMA!
If you like going to the movies, you may run across two very familiar, bigger than life personalities on the big screen very soon.
Plattsburgh's own John Lloyd Young will star in the motion picture "Jersey Boys" this June. Young won the Tony Award for portraying singer Frankie Valli on Broadway, in the biographical story of the musical group The Four Seasons. Young is the only original Broadway cast member to also appear in the movie. In 2006, the actor and I discussed his Broadway debut at the famous Manhattan restaurant Sardis. This interview appeared on Art Express.
Another Art Express alum, Big Bird hits the silver screen again, this time in a documentary about his puppeteer. 80 year-old Carroll Spinney has performed the role for 45 years, since the first episode of Sesame Street in 1969. "I am Big Bird, the Carroll Spinney Story" premiered this week at the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto, and makes its U.S. debut in Montclair, New Jersey on Saturday. Look for the film at independent movie houses later this year. I was thrilled to visit Sesame Street a few years ago to interview Carroll Spinney. Here is the segment from Art Express.
