With lingering snow on the ground, (when will it ever melt?) Montrealers are already thinking of updating their wardrobes with all the latest fashion trends for spring and summer.
There are few things as exciting as being invited to a fashion show, which is THE main event for designers to showcase their upcoming lines and creations to fashionistas everywhere. I recently attended three shows each with different mandates and audiences. It quickly becomes apparent that fashion and style does not solely come in the form of clothes....
Nouveau Théâtre Expérimental presents Collection Printemps - Ete. / Spring- Summer Collection by NTE
Currently running from March 24th to April 11th 2015
For thirty years, director Christian Vézina charged himself with a noble mission: to bring poetry to the public. Convinced of the theatrical power of the spoken word, he orchestrated a unique and spectacular piece showcasing the world of women by combining lavish verses with a breathtaking fashion show.
Three skilled female performers: Danielle Proulx, Salomé Corbo, Elkahna Talbi and musician Marie Sophie Picard took to the stage to recite the words of both local and foreign poets including Joyce Mansour, Hélène Monette, Suzanne Jacob, Marie Etienne, Ananda Devi and Brigitte Fontaine.
The opening night of Spring Summer Collection was a treat for all 5 senses as a sushi cocktail was offered after the show for those who purchased VIP tickets offered by Nouveau Théâtre Expérimental.
The play itself is a fresh breath of air that dispels any notion that poetry is no longer fashionable.
The Seven Deadly Sins Fashion walk...
The best part of going to a ready-to wear fashion show is definitely discovering the trendy urban fashions we can actually wear in our everyday lives! The Seven Deadly Sins fashion show held last March 20th at Club Soda was an extravaganza of frills and lace, sky-high heels, sportswear and sexy lingerie that can easily carry us from the desk to a night out on the town.
The show was presented by 3rd year ergotheraphy students at Universite de Montreal to finance their end of year graduation ball. 10 % of profits were given to ALTERGO: an organization that offers support to those living with functional and physical limitations...
I was happy to see 22 local designers such as vintage wear Annie 50, contemporary Blank and Voyou and dynamic WINNIE FASHION who presented their new collections all using models recruited directly from the University's student body.
Wedding themed fashion show at Bridal Boudoir Affair,
Spring and summer are the choice season for future brides and grooms to tie the knot. Looking fabulous on your wedding day means being relaxed, radiant, happy and ready to start a brand new existence with the person with whom you've chosen to spend the rest of your life. Bridal beauty and grooming routines: nails, hair, makeup and your choice of dress – are all directly tied to being the bride you want to be on your special day.
The main event of the Bridal Boudoir experience is the elegant fashion show featuring stunning wedding gowns by Jenny Packham, Marchesa, Monique L’Huillier, Oscar de la Renta and Reem Acra from the brand new White Boutique in Old Montreal.
Also featured on the catwalk was Galleria Della Sposa’s private label, evening wear and classy but oh –so -sexy lingerie from Blush Lingerie.
Fantasy performing artists from Manina Productions graced the stage with a dynamic choreography that definitely added to the magical atmosphere of the show.
