Do you miss Downton Abbey?
I miss Downton Abbey
Last Monday, The Canadian friends of Mountain Lake PBS gathered at Auberge Willow in beautiful Hudson Quebec to tune in to their local PBS station and watch the special edition of “I miss Downton Abbey”.
The series that captured our hearts and imaginations revived the nostalgia of the glamorous 20-30’s era: the fine dining, etiquette, elegant decor and fashion. We relished in the excitement of the social activities of the time: parties, dancing and music and we were enthralled by the romance and drama of the upstairs and downstairs cast.
Like Branson, we "hate goodbyes," and like Thomas, we have to console ourselves with the saying that "Even good things must come to an end."
Summer might be coming to an end, however there is still a wide range of interesting activities in and around Montreal which might be of interest to those who have kept a special place for the well loved series in their hearts....

Love to pick apples, cook, bake and also help raise funds for a good cause?
Pick fresh apples at Vergers LaFrance in St-Joseph-Du-Lac.
Apple picking is a fun event for the entire family. Like Mrs Patmore, always interested in obtaining the freshest ingredients for the Crawley family, picking apples right from the tree will help you bake the best pies and obtain vitamin packed fruit that is both crispy and very juicy.
The Verger LaFrance is a family run business that has been passed down three generations. Like the Crawleys, owner Eric Lafance and his wife believe in philanthropy and are currently working with Fondation Rêves d'enfants, Québec - Children's Wish Foundation, Quebec to help raise the money necessary to make sick children's dreams come true.
Thanks to the generosity of the public, over 20,000 $ has been raised for the foundation. One of the main beneficiaries is Little Edouard ( featured below ) who, with his family, will take a magical dream trip to Walt Disney World !
During your visit to the orchard, take the opportunity to try some of the delicious baked goods at the onsite restaurant, visit the kid friendly petting farm and stop for a tasting at the cider house or recently opened sugar shack where you can find delicious apple and maple syrup: A perfect addition to your homemade pies!
Open daily from 9 to 5 pm
