Plattsburgh, NY – 11/26/2014 – Seats are going quickly for the Holiday Gala Inspired by Downton Abbey being hosted by Mountain Lake PBS on December 13, 2014. The evening begins with cocktails and hors d’ouevres, followed by a Downton Abbey inspired meal, and culminates in a screening of the first episode of Season 5, which premieres on Mountain Lake PBS on January 4, 2015.

The second course will be an intermezzo of pear carpaccio with rhubarb preserve and mint. And the entrée will be Chicken Kiev served with rosemary roasted potatoes and green tipped carrots. Desert will feature traditional British sweets and cakes with coffee and tea.
“The opportunity to create and host a themed event like this in Lake Placid is thrilling,” said Janine Scherline, Director of Fundraising & Business Development at Mountain Lake PBS. “The popularity of Downton Abbey coupled with the holiday season and surrounding festivities makes this the perfect event to attend with friends, family and loved ones. We anticipate a great turnout and hope to see the community come together to celebrate the spirit of the season for a great cause.”
The event, being held at the Conference Center at Lake Placid, will take place in conjunction with the Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll, a weekend long celebration of featuring holiday shopping, festive family fun, arts and entertainment.
"The Lake Placid community is very excited to be hosting the PBS Downton Abby Inspired Gala. We are hoping those coming for the stroll will attend the PBS Gala and those coming for the PBS Gala will make a weekend out of it and partake in all of the Stroll events. We think these two events are the perfect match" said Mary Jane Lawrence, Holiday Village Stroll Committee.
During the cocktail hour, guests will be treated to live music by a trio of local musicians as they enjoy hors d’ouevres and peruse raffle items. Gala-goers will also have the opportunity to pose for a keepsake photo in front of a mock Downton Abbey set.
Many tables have already been reserved, but a variety of ticket levels are available; open seating single tickets to the gala and screening for $85, pairs for $160, and reserved tables of 8 for $650 . All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Mountain Lake PBS.
