Plattsburgh, NY – 8/25/2011 –On October 1st, 2011, Mountain Lake PBS and Adirondack Harvest will proudly premiere the new film Small Farm Rising at the Golden Arrow Resort in Lake Placid, New York.
Small Farm Rising is a one hour documentary that invites you to explore the sustainable practices, creative business models and deep community connections of three small farms in the shadow of the Adirondack Mountains. Videographer Ben Stechschulte filmed over 120 hours of footage to capture an entire growing season.
The documentary focuses on a new generation of farmers revitalizing rural communities, stimulating local economies and restoring depleted farmland. They are producing a wide variety of specialty crops, marketing them locally, and in the process, building a community that crosses age, class and social barriers.
The Small Farm Rising project takes a multiplatform approach to education. The project consists of the film, and short educational videos paired with additional curriculum. These videos will be freely shared via social media and education outlets.
The film premiere on October 1st, 2011, 4:00p at the Golden Arrow Resort in Lake Placid will be open to the public, and free of charge. Prior to the screening The Golden Arrow Resort will serve hors d’oeuvres straight from the farms featured in the film.
