Plattsburgh, NY – 3/24/2011 – Mountain Lake PBS is pleased to announce that it is a recipient of a grant from Georgia-Pacific Foundation. The $2,500 grant will provide the Education & Outreach department with funding station’s Imagine Yourself Reading program.
Mountain Lake PBS’ Imagine Yourself Reading Program is modeled after the successful national PBS program, Ready To Learn. The program is focused on building reading skills at home, at school, in child care, and in the community by incorporating the latest research about the most effective ways for kids to build reading skills.
Imagine Yourself Reading workshops are held throughout our viewing area in partnership with schools, libraries, museums, and other not for profit agencies. These workshops and events aim to teach research based literacy strategies to parents as well as provide a free book and materials so that parents and caregivers can practice these strategies with their children
