PLATTSBURGH, NY – SEPT 10, 2012 – Mountain Lake PBS is pleased to introduce BORDERLESS NORTH, an online and on-air magazine serving the region that encompasses the Tri-Lakes, Plattsburgh, and Montreal.
Every Thursday at 8:30 pm we’ll take an up-close look into the life, history and landscape that surrounds us. Online, BORDERLESS NORTH is a hub – a platform – where community members are invited to explore, contribute, and share content anytime at borderlessnorth.org.
As a multiplatform initiative, BORDERLESS NORTH will integrate the information that is available both online and on-air. The on-air program is a window into the information available online; relevant links, additional information, related content and opportunities for discussion are all just a few clicks away. Borderlessnorth.org will also include videos, articles and events unique to the site.
“The media landscape that we inhabit is constantly evolving. With more and more information out there both on television and online, it’s important for us to help local content rise to the surface, making it easy to find and explore,” said Jennifer Kowalczyk, Director of Communications at Mountain Lake PBS.
BORDERLESS NORTH relies on staff, independent producers, and community journalists for the broadcast component. With input from our audience, we’ll focus on News, Arts & Culture, Kids & Families, and Lifestyle & Outdoors online. Community bloggers, public submissions, and a robust user-friendly calendar will round out borderlessnorth.org.
“Over the last year, we’ve participated in many community-wide discussions. One of the things we continually heard was that people wanted a forum - a platform to share information, events, and creative work. BORDERLESS NORTH is just that – a place where community members can find and share information,” said Alice Recore, President and CEO of Mountain Lake PBS.
“Our viewing area stretches from Quebec City and Montreal through Northern NY and Vermont and it can be challenging to summarize what connects that region. We believe that the BORDERLESS NORTH brand provides a banner that will unite this broad geographic region as we look to better serve our viewers with distinct local programming both over the air and online,” said Dan Swinton, Director of Production and Content at Mountain Lake PBS.
New episodes of BORDERLESS NORTH will air every Thursday at 8:30 pm. You can engage with us online at borderlessnorth.org, facebook and twitter at anytime.
