Plattsburgh, NY – 9/21/2011 – A new series begins on Mountain Lake PBS on Thursdays at 9pm titled Close to Home Showcase. The series will feature exclusively local programs, ranging from broadcast premieres to classics pulled from the archives.
The series premiere will feature Boomer and the Crew Dogs, inviting you to join the flight crew of a KC-135 Strato Tanker based at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, as they take to the skies to do their part to keep America safe. Go behind the scenes of their missions and personal lives and get to know Boomer and the Crew Dogs.
Broadcast premieres include Small Farm Rising, a new 60 minute documentary that follows a group of first generation farmers from three unique farms as they carry plants, land and animals through an entire growing season. A newly restored version of The Phantom of the Opera complete with an original score by Montreal composer Gabriel Thibaudeau will also premiere during Close to Home Showcase.
“We’re excited to revive some of these classics, going all the way back to 1986. There are some real gems in our archives, and some very exciting premieres coming up. Close to Home is a way for us to do what we do best – showcase all that our region has to offer with high quality local programs,” said Alice Recore, President and CEO of Mountain Lake PBS.
